Complacency, Conviction and the Constitution

I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust."Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
Psalms 91: 2-5

Declaration of Independence

Have you ever been complacent, comfortable in your life and willingly ignoring the ever present political upheaval of the day? I know you have, so have I but as our founding fathers came to a point where tyranny could no longer be ignored so have I. We live in a very interesting world today with so much information at our fingertips and so comfortable in our lifestyle that most turn a blind eye, willingly ignorant of important topics and events that could change our world beyond belief.

My blindness convicted me especially hard when I came to the realization that I had been one of the comfortable, choosing to be ignorant. In my ancestry is a man and his family that gave their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor for freedom, literally.
Being a direct descendant of Richard Stockton signer of the Declaration of Independence I should have been more vigilant to protect what he and his family sacrificed so heavily for. He was a American lawyer holding the highest degree of law of the day, jurist, legislator, later a judge and continental congressman along with being a close friend of George Washington.

Quote found in Wikipedia:
Stockton initially showed little interest in politics. He once wrote, "The public is generally unthankful, and I never will become a Servant of it, till I am convinced that by neglecting my own affairs I am doing more acceptable Service to God and Man."

Stockton first took a moderate stance in the conflict between the Crown and the Colonies even traveling to England, Ireland and Scotland trying to bring the message of a peaceful resolution.  In 1774 he drafted and sent to Lord Dartmouth "a plan of self-government for America, independent of Parliament, without renouncing the Crown. In London he attended the Queen’s birthday ball and was presented to King George III, later he had the honor of giving a speech to the King acknowledging the repeal of the Stamp Act and the King was impressed by Stockton. But alas the King refused to be deprived of the fairest jewel in his crown, the colonies known as America. Long story made short Richard Stockton a successful man living a comfortable lifestyle came to the same conclusion many are coming to today that Liberty is worth standing for.

In Stockton's day they were forming a new nation, fighting for their freedom from a tyrant trying to enslave them. Today we don't need to form a new nation we just need to protect the one we have. We have been given a gift from God, a nation with liberties and wealth never before achieved in the history of man  all protected by a form of government known as a constitutional republic. We as a nation need to wake up, read our highest law known as the Constitution of the United States of America.  We need to educate ourselves, there are many out there who are trying very hard to distort history and do everything they can to distract us from the truth. A good place to start is to follow Constitutional educator Krisanne Hall a former constitutional attorney who's ministry is traveling the United States educating anyone who will listen on how to protect our Constitutional rights and liberties.
